I found this bowl today for 8 USD in a garage store, and recognized the slight blue Stromberg crystal. It's unsigned but I'm quite sure it is a Gunnar Nylund design from 1950s, probably an early model 1952-55. I currently have my catalog of 1954 on loan to a friend, so I can not check if it is present there. But I know there are similar models with in rolled patterns in the catalog. My brother and sister also have similar Nylund vases with inrolled color strings in different patterns.
Great pics!
I love those threads! Such a great bowl!
I have a little bowl from this series with exactly the same measurements. The threads are arranged in a slightly denser frequency and have 3 different colours (white and 2 nuances of brown). So far I had no idea who the designer could be and had never stumbled upon any similar glass objects, in a word: I was completely clueless. So guess my surprise when I saw your photos! Thank you for sharing this with us, rebessin!
Hi designqvist! The bluish tint in the crystal of my bowl, is exactly the same as in other items I have from Strombergshyttan from the same period (1950s). So I'am quite sure this is abowl from S-h! The brown nuances are also 2 in mine (one darker, one lighter). It does not look like Asta Stromberg design in my eyes (I have not seen anything with colored threads by Asta at all). So this is most likely a bowl by Gunnar Nylund.
Exquisite!
