I'm trying to find out if this U.S. Deputy Marshal badge for the Arizona Territory is genuinely old, or just a reproduction. I have seen reproductions w/ the same writing & marks, but this one SEEMS old. It was amongst some items that my 92 year old mother had collected when she was running an Antique Shop, which she opened in the early 1960's, and retired from in 2008. It is 3" wide x 3.5" tall. It weighs 1.24 oz. - The pin looks like it has been re-soldered. It is not magnetic. Can anyone shed any light on this seemingly old badge?

Fake I'm sorry to say. If you mother bought it from the catalogs that I've seen the price was 79.00 which is about 76.00 more than it is worth.

Thank You! - I'm sure she didn't buy it from a catalog - more like a yard sale or auction. - Thanks again!

How do you authenticate? My dad found the one I have in an old knob and tube home in the wall, wrapped in cheesecloth... in Oklahoma, along with 6 other random badges.
He found it in the early 70’s...
