This is a lovely Victorian micromosaic frame in brass with blue flowers (forget-me-nots?) concentrated at the bottom of the frame and thinning out toward the top of the frame. Inside the frame is a hand-painted ceramic miniature of a beautiful young woman. The frame has toggles in the back to hold in the backing, a hinged brass T stand to allow the frame to stand up as in photo 2, and two little round ball feet in the front. There is a small chip in the edge of the miniature which is at about 7 o'clock and another little fleabite at about 4 o'clock - neither detracts from the beauty and charm of the miniature as they are both almost hidden by the edge of the frame. The size of the frame is about 2" x 2.5" not including the feet. There are a couple of tiny tiles missing from the frame but you really have to look to see them - for the most part it is in excellent condition.
BEAUTIFUL!!
Agram will love this
Frame was made in Italy, that's what I can tell you
This is so lovely!...:-)
Indeed Stillwater I love this STUNNING!
Thank you Moonstonelover, Stillwater, Inky and Agram for your appreciative comments, and thank you Walksoftly, Phil, inky, vetraio, b'buss and mustangtony for your loves. I also think that this is rather special, and yes Stillwater, I believe the frame was made in Italy although neither the frame nor the porcelain miniature have any marks to definitely know their origin. As with most micromosaics, it is also impossible to tell how old it is - although the patina on the metal tells me it is quite old.
