The AKVA range, that's one of the most succesful ones designed by Lütken, was into production for over 20 years (from 1953 to 1974) and different designs were discontinued or added in different years.
These three candleholders share a very simmilar design and appear in catalogues for the first time in 1973, just one year before the whole range was discontinued (so I guess they must be rarer than other Akva items as they were into production for just one year).
Apart from these three candleholders, the new Akva items from 1973 are a vase with a simmiar shape (I guess it must be about 18cm tall) and a series of 8 bowls with really massive bases, 5 of which are footed). From this 12 new items I've got 7. I'm really looking forward to getting the remaining five! :)
pure aqua!!!
Thanks artislove for the love and the comment! These candleholders, and in general the other items from the last Akva series, show a more intense shade of aqua blue (in the original ones it was a very subtle one).
The fact of having solid glass bases gives an extra depth to the colour. They're simply great!
Oh the color! Love them!
Thanks Amber! they're great little pieces!
