    My friend inherited this box and supposedly it is from the late 1700's or so and from a sunken ship. Just wondered what it's value may be worth or if if the info is accurate on its age.

      Think you can forget the sunken ship part unless it was recovered real quick. Brass tarnishes quickly in sea water so the patina is wrong for that. Hinge pins on almost all things are made of iron or steel as softer metals wear too quickly. These appear to fit that pattern but iron or steel corrode even faster than brass in seawater.
