Thanks to another poster I remembered purchasing this last Saturday morning. Once a year here in town there is a small church that has an annual quarter sale. They have an area that measures about 1500 sq ft and they pack it full of items donated by members of the church as a fundraiser. Every item within those walls is priced at .25 cents. Its actually amazing to see some of the things that have been donated for the sale. This year there was a leather couch, some bedroom furniture, kitchen table and chairs etc. If you have ever participated in the black Friday frenzy of Christmas shopping, this is very close. Seems to be the same amount of people in a much much smaller area. Luckily I thrive on chaos. The sale starts at 7am, and much like black Friday the line starts about 2 hours earlier. I only ended up leaving with 2 items, but considering I walked out alive and not injured I felt that was pretty good. This is one of the things I purchased for a quarter, had no idea what in the world it was but it was too cool to leave behind regardless. When folded it measures roughly 13" tall, when in the unfolded stand position it's approximately 9" tall, and 9" at widest point. I was in a rush when I got home and put this in one of my moving boxes then loaded up the car and the kids to go out of town. Had it not been for the other posting I'm not sure when I would have remembered even bringing it home. Hopefully someday I'll be lucky enough to run across the matching bowl, maybe in the meantime a cute plant stand? I'll figure something out.
These certainly aren't easy to make out of 1 piece of wood & sell for almost nothing. Our share of helping the starving of the world. Camel: An ill-assorted collection of poorly matching parts assembled to to create a distressing whole. Governments also can be defined the same way. Nice piece.
Thank you bratjdd, I love yours too! The elephants are gorgeous. I can't even imagine blunderbuss2...I'm amazed at the time and skill it must take to make these. Would love to see one being made sometime. Its very impressive.
