Everytime I'd go to "Volunteers of America" I would look at this lamp and think ..it's really nice for 8 bucks, but where would I put it ? In my trunk ! That's where...lol. It was teetering on the edge of the top shelf just waiting to come crashing to the floor. I picked it up to move it back to safety and well...Here it is. It's a heavy durable piece which may account for the lack of any damage. It's done in a shaded peachy tan color. The front Chinese floral is stunning with raised white enamel details and the gold trim shines like new (probably 24 kt.).The back is plain with no decoration. It has some of the spattered "weeping gold "accents on the ivy side handles of the urn and the base. It stands 28" tall to the finial . Judging from the socket and the plug I'd say it could be late 1930's but more likely 1940's. The plug and cord probably were replaced because the felt on the bottom is missing . All that is left is the dried up glue. The base is separate from the urn and slightly off center. So I think someone had it apart at one time. While the cord appears newer, the plug is a smooth bake lite (non- polarized) type not modern molded plastic. The socket which is dark and aged appears to be original. It's just the old on/off click type not a 3-way. I found the perfect shade for it at Goodwill. It was brand new and still wrapped . Beautiful ivory silk with floral details and beads. These things cost a fortune too ! This one only cost 8 bucks. Perfect match and that really put it over the top ! ...lol -Mike-
