I recently found this little bowl (about 5-6" diameter) at a sale and really loved the color and markings.
Anyone have an idea what the marks on the bottom are? I am guessing it is simple houseware from Japan, but I am only guessing. Perhaps 'Meijin Karakusa'?
Thank you for any information you may be able to provide!
transfer ware -----Sho Chiku Bai means Matsu (pine tree) + Take (bamboo) + Ume (plum). Matsu and Take keep their green through the years. And, Ume blooms flowers earlier than other flowers. So, these three have the meaning of "withstand adversity and success at last." Ume is a symbol of "patience", "faithfulness", or "noble.", chinese equivalent three friends of winter
