No pottery today. In fact not much of anything. I found this pretty little 5" Chinese "Jingfa" writing brush washing dish. Jingfa makes very high quality "cloisonne" gift ware. This was probably someone's souvenir . Pink Cherry blossoms, against a deep blue background. The brass brush rest highlights the turquoise basin. Even the back is pretty. Still has it's original labels too. Doesn't look like it was ever used -Mike-

This is not an ashtray! What you have is a writing brush washing dish! Very nice! Do you mind telling me what the sticker on the bottom says?

Hello turtlezman...... Thanks for the for the info. Sounds much more elegant than an ashtray. So that's why it's so clean inside as well. The round red label says "Jingfa" the white label says " Made in China" . -Mike-

Well I had it as an ashtray originally and was told it was the brush washer and changed it. Really wasn't my opinion so I figured I was wrong about the ashtray. Never thought it was old either. I researched online about Jingfa so I new it was modern gift ware as well.

LOL people, it IS an ashtray, especially from the 60s when EVERYONE smokes - see the notches. All the holes and cracks in the cloisonne would make it terrible for ink wash, which would need to be much bigger to properly clean the brush.

Jingfa was a Chinese cloisonne company during late 1990s, early 2000s, they used to sell on their website. Long gone now.
