    (765 items)

This was a find for me a long time ago...I fell in love with the Opal and could not believe the size of it! The stone is polished but in a raw state and is HUGE as you can see it has blues, greens and purples. The weigh of it is 45.7 grams of solid Opal. and the size is 2.50 inches x 1.30 I hope you enjoy!

vetraio50, I have no idea...where do you think this is from? I am a mere collector of colours..:))))

It will have to be either of those two.
The sites are out in the middle nowhere!
Check out "boulder opal in the rough" on google and you'll get more info..
I have no real knowledge that will help you.
Mind you there others who might know here on CW.

My mother told me that it was bad luck to buy opals for myself. So a few years ago when I went to AU I went to the opal mines and got a big fire opal ring for my mother. She passed away a few years later and now it is mine - but I did not buy it for me!! I love opals but have always been afraid to buy them for me - my Mom was very big on signs and superstitions.....what do you think? BTW I love your opal rock!
    10. Moonstonelover21 Moonstonelover21, 12 years ago
antiquarius123, I understand that was a superstition....but the only reason that was said was to ward off buyers of other gemstones other than Diamonds. The Diamonds sellers put that out there so there sales would not be hit. I Google that tale and that is what I came up with. Opals are good luck and the wearer is blessed with happiness with having a treasure of colours to look at on ones self!!!!
BTW the superstition is not true what so ever! It was passed around by the Diamond Sellers of Old!!!!! :0

Great news! Thanks for the info Moonstonelover!

antiquarius123, I have to say....since I loved the Opal so much!!! I had to do research an make sure I was not bringing bad energy back to the house! So did a lot of it and came up with old wives tales that were from over a 100 years ago! Then found the cause of the tale!!! Must have been DeBeers who said that LMAO!!!!

Moonstone you are so right about opals not being bad luck i have read the same and also i have heard indeed debeers did participate with that ridiculous rumor because they.wanted diamond sales not to fall. Your opal is amazing
