When I first stumbled across this massive beauty, I realized that it is very different than the usual jewelry designs by Trifari, and I was intrigued by the museum-quality. Upon research, I discovered that this necklace was created by Diane Love, whose jewelry designs for Trifari were considered works of art and highly-collectible. We managed to contact Miss Love, and here's what she told us about this necklace:
"I believe you are referring to the circular Sassanian disk with a copper color plating. The disk is an exact copy of the original Sassanian artifact I found. The scroll necklace is my design but I thought captured the mood of the piece. "
This necklace happened to be one of her earliest designs, and were displayed in an exhibit entitled “Jewels Of Fantasy, Costume Jewelry of the 20th Century”, sponsored by Swarovski. A very rare find, and I was so blessed to have this in my hand for awhile!
I love Sasanian coins. Any idea as to the identity of the portrait?
