    (154 items)

Stumbled across this gem today and needed a little bit of help with Makers Marks and determining if it could be sterling. Hopefully marks are identifiable enough........Any help would be greatly appreciated. It appears to say 925 in the oval.....
Also it appears that possibly the name might have at on time appeared in a crown.......There is a circular incise after the word and then there is a crown top of some kind in the middle....Maybe this might help...Thank you

BTW It measures 6-1/4 x 2'1/2" and weighs 9.2 oz

These marks are hard. Just a hunch: check out the Austrian silver marks here:

I'm looking at the oval mark after the 35.
The size really is quite large.
      Heavy too!
      Most impressed!

      Cornucopia, love it!

Thanks Stillwater, I've learnt something interesting about Italian silver!

Ok ...Had someone help me further and determined that pieces marked in this manner are created in a resin or mastic, then covered with 3-5 grams of standard 925 silver...This is what the 3 5 stands for......Thx for everyones help here

Hm, usually there's an division sign between the two numbers. I should have caught that though. That's how they do it in Italy. I got a little turtle like this a long, long time ago, took me forever to figure out what those two numbers meant

I had a hard time convincing myself that this was a solid piece of silver......Thx again........
