I don't read german, but i purchased this book years ago at a yard sale. there's some damage to the cover, but i still really like the graphics. if anyone knows anything about this book, i'd love to learn more about it.

Oh no! I had this one when I was a child. My grandmother used it all the time to scare me!
Struwwelpeter is a series of stories about a disobedient boy who never does what he is told and all the disasters that happen to him because of his actions. He starts off with bad grooming and it goes down hill from there. I remember my parents often calling me a Struwelpeter when my hair was messed up.
I thought that first image was Edward Scissorhands!

I was born in 1955 in Germany and my mother read that book to me. It is a story of a little boy who would not let anyone groom him, he fought hard not to be groomed, so the lesson was, " See... this is what happens when you don't let me cut your hair or nails" , You will look like a freak.
patti1000, I was born a bit later but our grandmothers must have been of the same generation! Mine did the same!!!
