Sixth plate tintype of an early war soldier wearing a nine button frock coat.
The soldier also has a Colt pistol stuck in his belt (with M1851 buckle)-- most likely the belt and pistol were studio props to enhance his appearance in this image.
The image is housed in a thermoplastic case.
