Love Hagenauer! Such great form!
Fabulous object, thanks for sharing it with us and welcome to CW!
Yes this is a great figure, i do not have the one with the knee up in my collection, is this for sale?
it depends on the price :-)
Where'd you find it? Was it a sleeper at a flea market or something? I'm always looking for this stuff
unfortunately these Figurines can hardly be found on fleamarkets....
this one is in my family for quite some time.
It once belonged Aunt and she got it from an old neighbor Lady as a litttle "thank you" after she took care about this Lady after she had broken her leg.
I can remember that Lady called Frau Schleicher from my childhood as beeing not that friendly and beeing a hobby opera singer.
I've asked my cousin Thomas about herand he told me this Lady was called Schleicher and has been a teacher at a private school.
He remembers as well that she collected mainly art nouveau glass and that he wasn't allowed to touch any of her things.
She must have died circa 1985-1990 he said, with an age of about 85 to 90 years.
Therefore the figurine must have been in my family since circa 1980-1985
Coincidentally I found a large bronze one at a flea market/rumage sale that I sold for $2,500. And I've also found 6 or 7 smaller ones at garage and estate sales over the years. Just found one last week as a matter of fact, a little bronze cat. The Hagenauer Werkstatte produced for almost 60 years, so they aren't spectacularly rare. You can definitely find them at estate sales or flea markets if you look hard enough
i truly believe that just a little number of hagenauer pieces reached the north of germany. i don't know how many % of their production exported overseas...
i actually should look hard enough... I'm one of the first persons who reaches the flea markets before the stuff reaches the tables....
i just found important hagenauer pieces once in form of two ducks in half bronze and half teak on a fleamarket...
just once in 15years...
maybe i have to come to the states?!?
i took some more pics just in case of an interest
