I thought I'd never post anything on CW and merely would stick to reading, learning and discussing. But I need to know more about several glass items I have, and this is a good online forum for putting questions and getting answers!
I begin with a flacon by Swedish Asta Strömberg for Strömbergshyttan. The colours are two shades of pink, overlaid with clear glass. On the bottom it is signed as shown in the last picture, and as I read it it says "88408 A.Sg. Strömbergshyttan" (though I thought that Asta's signature usually was A.S....?). Furthermore the bottle carries a sticker from the glassworks, saying "Studioglas Strömbergshyttan AB Sweden".
The bottle stands 10 cm high, and 13 cm when carrying the delicate little stopper.
The weight is close to 600 g.
When you look at the pictures you can see that the bottle isn't really symmetric. But this doesn't harm its beauty at all.
I hope that rebessin can tell me more about this lovely little glass object - when it was made, if it was part of a glass series, if Asta Strömberg created other similar perfume bottles, etc.!

Maybe I disappoint you, but it's not a design by Asta Stromberg. Nor is it from the older Strömbergshyttan, but from the Studio Glass Strombergshyttan, started in 1987, eight years after the demise of the old company. I will return with who designed the flacon, will contact my sister who has been a designer for Sttudioglass Strombergshyttan.
A, may indcicate one of the three masterblowers who started Studioglass Strombergshyttan, Michael Axenbrandt. The other two was Hakan Gunnarsson and Leif Persson. But I'm not shure, will return with an answer.
Thanks rebessin! I now remember that you wrote about the 2 different glass studios but the signature A.Sg. really is very missleading so I never doubted it is an object by Asta Strömberg!
I googled very quickly and now tend to think that "A.Sg." stands for "Axenbrant Studioglas" - could this be right?
But I'm really not disappointed it is not one of Asta Strömberg's creations as the little bottle is well done and beautiful. I'm curious what more you will find out about this flacon - thanks in advance!

I got an answer from my sister, Ulla Carin Bergqvist. The number 88408 A is a model number, and this flacon has not a specified designer. It's what we call "hyttdesign", created by the collaboration between the masterblowers themselves. The had in the first years a production with several models, produced in common series (not small studioglass series) and the design of these models was grown in collaboration.
I will also say I think it is beautiful, and Ulla-Carin, my sister hase a copy of this particular flacon in her home.

So the "A." is part of the model number, but what does "Sg." stand for, do you know? Was the full name of the studio maybe "Studioglas Strömbergshyttan", and the "Sg." is part of the studio's name?
When you say "the first years", can this be narrowed a bit more? I found this link here on CW with another Axenbrant item for Strömbergshyttan, but it is signed with 1985, which I find confusing as you say they started in 1987:

This newer Strömbergshyttan seems to have merged with or been incorporated by "Bergdala studioglas" around 2009 and given up its name "Strömbergshyttan", so the latter doesn't run under this name any longer. It's not eays to keep track of all the mergings and takeovers!
You probably know how my little bottle was done? What is the name for this technique?
(Sorry for not stopping asking you questions, rebessin! A dream of mine is to one day have a glassblower to my disposal to whom I can show different glass objects I am wondering about, and he/she then will blow them and explain step by step how they are done. I have watched glassblowers at work in Småland a few times but they never did graal or other complicated techniques.)

Sg stands for StudioGlass. The A is a part of the model number. The vase in the link is signed 1995, not 1985.
About 2008 Studioglas Strömbergshyttan closed in Strömbergshyttan, and moved to Bergdala for the production. The factory sales is still in Strombergshyttan, now together with two pottery artists and Nybro Glassworks.
About 2010 Bergdala and Studioglass Strömbergshyttan was merged to one company, Bergdala Studioglass. Dec 2012 they was in bankrupcy, and now started up agin. The owner comes from China. They still produce the old sortiment with Blue Edge (Blå Kant) and my sisters and the other studioglass designers work.
This is a really interesting conversation. I learned a lot!
