I got this knife in 1971 as payment for a small debt. I have never found any information about it. Does anyone have any info ? I would love to know.
It is all brass (even the blade) and has no markings of any kind. It measures 3 inches when folded and about 5 1/2 inches when open. I think that originally it was attached to a brass ring and was used as key ring.
It is always in my pocket but its origins are still a mystery to me.
If the blade is brass, it must be a letter opener or a lousy defense weapon.
I'm guessing its Indian as there seems to be Hindi (?) gods on it.
I think it's from Thailand. Maybe just a fruit knife.

I was given a similar knife as a gift it took some digging but the best Igot so far is a ww2 era knife that soldiers purchased in India as souvenirs

I see them mislabeled all the time, even when they are marked Siam.

I have a similar knife, only it has a mermaid on both sides. Also has a key ring fob. In the mermaid's tail, there is an "S" on one side, and an oriental character on the other. No markings on the blade.

I have one of these, and I found a match on the Rue McLanahan estate page. It is listed as a solid gold knife. The purity is not listed. It is posted for sale at $475.00. I still know nothing of the origin. here is the link.

Thanks for the info but I do not think it is gold. Pretty sure it is brass. I think that the one on Rue McClanahan's page is priced that way because she owned it. I don't think it is that valuable by itself. I wish it were.
