Great store display unit in superb condition! Is that Donald Duck pocket watch made by Ward W. Co. in the 50s?
geo26e thanks for the comments . I don't know who made DD pocket watch the only thing on it is swiss made at bottom of dial. I was told when I got it that it was for 1940s
I believe the DD watch is Swiss made by a company called Ward W. Co. for the Austrian market in the late 40s - early 50s. Kerry will be able to tell us more when he comes online later! Love your vintage Disney collection in unbelievable mint conditions and very much looking forward to see more in the future. George
Would like to see better photo, but 99.9 % sure George is spot on. Good eye George :-) I'll agree with George 100% on the fantastic piece you've shared with us.
Kerry
The Ward Donald would date 1953-54 as the production first run, might have been late 1940's as George suggested for their introduction and proto-type for approval. I've never seen any advertisments dated earlier than 1953.
One more question before heading off to work, It that a "Rocketeer" watch for the introduction of the movie in the 90's?
Kerry is correct, the Ward DD is 53 onwards. The MM pocket watch in the bottom left hand corner, is it the long stem or the short stem version? Looks rather unusual!
Kerry, Rocketeer watch, are you referring to the gold tank watch with light brown leather strap? I actually thought it was a mid 70s Bradley Mickey! Must be my eye sight!lol
Sorry it has taken so long to respond Kerry and geo26e, I work 10 to 12 hrs a day mostly 7 days a week. I do not know anything about the rocketeer watch but it has Disney on the back. The mickey pocket watch is not like any I have ever seen, the movement is made by ENDURA Time Corp, Made in GT Britain. The dial looks like American mickey an is marked Mickey Mouse Ingersoll C 1935 WD Prod. the back is smooth. I always thought it was a copy.
I understand, no problem. I believe I made an attempt to answer you query on both new postings.
