Well I bought this from the owner herself. good condition, She told me that the doll was "well stored, not well restored" so I aquired this along with trunk and ten outfits for 40 bucks..My problem is that I although the back of her neck says Effanbee Anne Shirley, everytime I google that, I always get dolls that do not resemble this one at all. My thought was that this is a mutant doll, and that someone threw this head on the body,Confused,Help =(
It's a Anne Shirley, but it an open mouth version that you see on the composition dolls..hmm. The eyes are blown, and that is too bad, but she is well worth $40 for the clothes alone. Let me look around and see if Effanbee used that body for another doll.
Yay, thanks so much
Okay..tell me this is the head composition? I can't see it that well, but I see the body looks like hard plastic. I don't usually see blown eyes in hard plastic dolls
I want to say its composition. For me it would be better to tell if there were a crack, but starring at it ,I would lean more towards compo than Hard Plastic
This is bugging me. What is her body made of? I have the Effanbbee doll book from 1949-present and she is not in there. It looks like a Mary Lee head mold. But she would have to be a jointed composition doll, her face looks composition, and in extrememly good shape
Her body Is definately hard plastic, by no means composition
It has to be! Nice! Okay go here and look at the faces, some of these dolls used the Anne Shirley body mold, and a different head mold. Now we just need to figure out who she is exactly. In the future with dolls like these take close up's of the face

NOoooooooooooo! haha alright. This IS weird. Let me start over then :)
I replaced one of the photos with a better face shot
If you notice there is a slight crack by her brow, and her face resembles the mary lee to some extent but im truly Baffled
Excellent. Now you have to be careful with her because I think she is all compositon just in such good shape she looks hard plastic.
Does she have a slightly broken finger? You should be able to tell from that. It will be a gray almost a paper mache type material
Yes I was told she lived in her trunk in her mother attic for decades, and I orginally thought she was full composition but between google was telling me Anne Shirley was Hard plastic , I just never knew her name or time
No the older ones had the open mouth marked Anne Shirley. She's around the 30's or early I'm guessing
Yes and Yes! its grey in color... what does that tell us? exciting!
It's all compostion :)
Yay! Hearts pounding, I have been Baffled for this past year. searching for any info, in vain till finding this site today =) you have been so much help!
So she is not a mutant doll. aaahhhh =,D
Excellent buy!
woohoo thank you very much
You're welcome!
Hello,
I have a composition Anne Shirley doll, she came dressed it a long sheer yellow gown or peignoir with multi-color round trim. I have seen this trim on other Anne Shirley outfits, and I'm wondering if the outfit is original. She is about 15" tall, and was wearing ice skates. Thank you,
