My sister bought this for me since I collect teapots. She was told it is a copper tea brewer. I would like to know when it was made and what it is made of. On the bottom, it has the letters: HK&C followed by a small circle with 2 lines under the circle. It has a riveted hatch and a tin interior with a perforated tin divider. The item is about 8" x 6 1/2" x4 1/2".

I would have guesses 100+ yrs old until you said "aluminum" which dates it. Odd to me that the "burner" is on the top, but you never know what people who live in cold climes will come-up with when they get cabin-fever. never seen anything like this & find it very interesting. Waiting on Walks, Amber etc. to identify what it is, give day & yr. made & possibly maker by his fingerprints left on it.

Correction: I just spoke to my sister to read her your comment. She said the inside is Tin, not aluminum. Sorry, my mistake.

The Simple Yet Perfect teapot has a domed top covering half of the teapot - the other half covered by a lid. Inside, in the upper part of the teapot, there is a perforated tray fixed across the pot, forming an infuser compartment to hold the tea.

The design allows the tea to brew in the infuser compartment as the pot lays on its back, tilts halfway up to drain the hot water from the infuser compartment, and then sits upright, ready to pour.

      Patented 1906

They made them in china, earthenware, electroplated copper under various company names.

Here is the maker's mark. I rotated my picture in all directions, but it would not load on the site in the correct position.
