Another form or mold from the green-sand casting lot I won at an estate auction earlier this spring. This mold is for Oar Locks and is dated 6-30-43 and is very large and heavy. Take notice of the American flag with the victory "V" through the center below the date stamp. This is one of my favorite molds in the lot, and would love to eventually attempt to make some for those looking to replace or restore old boats. Oar locks are used in rowboats to guide or secure the oars along the sides of the boat while rowing.

I really like the WW2 Patriotic emblems-- they were a part of EVERYTHING during WW2!

Thank you and good morning Lee, I found a few finished products similar on the bay under "antique oar locks" they take up a lot of room so I will stash them in old chicken house until American Pickers comes to town again, they were next town up last fall. http://lewistownsentinel.com/page/content.detail/id/534422/Picked-clean.html

Thanks for the love Scottvez, I have seen the Victory symbols on quite a few items and print media from that era. I occasionally think people were more patriotic then, and I guess it's hard to declare victory when we don't actually declare war anymore. We should honor and respect the soldiers as super hero's as they did in those days, they sacrifice(d) so much for us.
