Saara Hopea Red Vase and Liquor Glasses for Nuutajärvi

This vase is really special and has a slightly hilarious effect which doesn't exclude that it is very elegant in the same time. Hilarious, because it looks like a brandy balloon - but it's much bigger than even the biggest brandy glasses of this era: It stands 19 cm high. You understand its size in comparing it with Hopea's wonderful little liquor glasses which stand 9 cm high. These are very pure desgins in the revolutionary Kaj Franck tradition. Hopea ist really his congenial student. She belongs with Monica Bratt and Gunnel Nyman to the genial female glass designers of the classical time who died too young. She lived only from 1925 to 1984. I really love many of her designs.
