This dispenser was discovered boxed up in a packrat house this past summer. Has 1903 patent date out of New York and is called a cooler deluxe . B & R NECTAR out of Minneapolis . I've learned that stands for Brechet & Righter Co. 210 2nd st. n in Minneapolis with date unknown. They also put out a Root Beer called B & R "Beats all Root Beer". In a listing of Soda Pop I found NECTAR ....but no other information. The top slides open to add ice and a stoneware pot holds the nectar. I've also learned it came out of a Drugstore in South Dakota. Any information on this brand would be most helpful including whether its rare and a value . Does have peeling of the chrome plating in areas plus fading of the red lettering. Thanks, rtbeerjazz

Nectar Soda was developed in New Orleans in the late 1800s by local druggists. One in particular, a man named I.L. Lyons, is particularly credited with its invention. It was first sold to pharmacists as a syrup to mix with soda water at their soda fountain counters. Then, it was sold as a bottled soda pop in its own right.

It lost popularity and went off the market in the 50's.

      Thkz Dave.
The melted ice (water)is what's added to the nectar concentrate .....so no soda or carbonation is involved with this dispenser.
