I found this painting in a relatives storage. I've never seen it before. It's signed Richard Mayhew & measures 31 X 34 inches. Does anyone know how to find out if it's an original or a lithograph and does he still paint ?
Yes, I read about him on wikipedia. I'm mostly trying to find out if he painted this or if it's a reprint. Thank you :)

If it's a real painting, you should be able to feel the paint with your fingers...it looks from your photograph that it might be oil or acrylic rather than watercolor. If so, there should be some texture. What is it painted on? Canvas? Masonite? Board? Heavy paper? What's on the back surface? These might give you some clues if it's original or a reproduction.
