Moonstonel…
(765 items)
This is the same vase that I just posted a couple of days ago...the original pictures were of the listing. In the description it never mentioned a purple or lavender iridescent over the acid etching. It was a buy it now...and on a hunch without looking...got it. Sorry for bad pictures..but tried to show the lavender purple but it turned out bluish.... This measures 5.5 tall...and solid(heavy)
BTW the last picture was of the listing....you could not tell...or maybe you could and I am colour blind :0
The first picture is with white light...and the last is with black light!

I love these colors... I basically also live in these colors too :)
DrFluffy, so do I ...and I was shocked to see that the seller did not disclose this in the listing....what a selling point! XO I lucked out!!!
Well you definitely got a gorgeous one!!
DrFluffy, I feel very lucky!!
czechman, What is this type of vase called? Thanks for loving!!
vetraio50, thank for loving!!!
I don't want to rain on your parade, Moonstone, but this might not be Loetz. I'm not certain, but the glass looks like uranium. Also, the lack of a pontil on a phanomen type is not common. I would recommend asking famatta or one of the other Loetz pros here about it. It's still fabulously beautiful, though!
With Cogito on this one. a similar decor is shown in the Heckert section at PMC. (yeah, I know that's controversial) But my thought is either Heckert or Kralik (most likely)
I have the exact same piece that is in PMC
http://www.thegildedcurio.com/item-Heckert-667.html
although mine is lined and a golden glass instead of green.
But Loetz did do a uranium base green glass. It was pretty common from Loetz. Most of it is low enough uranium where my geiger counter doesn't get a strong hit (but it definitely goes up beyond the background level at my house) from it but it definitely Glows.
I am not 100 percent it's not Loetz. the shape is ringing some bells (which is why I was too chicken to say anything earlier) and I still haven't gotten around to flipping thru a shape book, But I think it's far more likely to be one of the above (Kralik or Heckert)(or....) I am not sure I've seen any particular reasoning that makes me believe one glass house over another on this design. In my mind it still has a ? over it.
Loetz did indeed do glass with no pontil scar but Cogito is right, I can't think of a single one I've seen in a phanomen design without one.
Regardless of the name, it's a great piece of glass.
This is neither Loetz nor Heckert, it is Kralik and there are many vases of differring typical Kralik shape known exhibiting this decor.
cogito, thank you...I feel like I am batting O....but trying. And learning while making mistakes...and I appreciate all the help with all your comments XOXO
You are doing fine! I think this purchase shows that you are honing your eye for Bohemian glass. Kralik is perfectly respectable.
cogito, thank you for your kind words and opinion. I guess changing the title and description to Kralik? Loetzbuddies thinks its Kralik too.
Greatsnowyowl, I guess I got another Kralik? Thank you for all your help. I was hoping for something unusual or special this time...I am flying by the seat of my pants....:( But trying.....XOXOX Thank you for all your comments and loving. I feel like I am not alone :)))
lee
Gee I have a lot to learn.
Zowie, I do have a lot to learn in Bohemian glass! I have bought 9 kraliks in search of a Loetz :0 LMAO I need help!!!!
I am against the tide, but I am not convinced these are Kralik. They do have a lot in common with the Heckert Silberbands and I think a lot of stuff was attributed to Kralik that is not Kralik and the myth continues. At one point silber band was considered to be kralik and a lot of things were attributed based on that assumption, I am of the opinion that this line was probably attributed because of that.
Maybe they are and maybe they aren't I'd need to see more evidence.
But yeah, you shouldn't feel at all bad about this not being loetz. if you compare this to lower end loetz it's better than that. It's still a great piece of bohemian glass.
Greatsnowyowl, I really appreciate your comments and thought! I do not think this is Kralik either. My gut, is that is something else...like you said. That is why there is still the question mark in the description. I am learning everyday...and I don't have books on any of the Bohemian Glass....and I am going on what I am learning here on CW. I am a mere pebble in the vase knowledge here on CW and feel a little embarrassed to be asking these questions. Thank you for taking the time to help me out ...and allowing me to make mistakes and correcting me on it. Thank you...so much!
Lee
No problem, Lee. Everyone learns; everyone makes mistakes. You never stop learning and making mistakes (I know, I haven't LOL)
the other contender for these that people don't really know much about is Annin. Loetz's lil sister company. there was a piece that was A LOT like these two in the museum that had a lot of Annin and Kralik and loetz. (Jitka's display) it's the museum that sells the new loetz shape books.
unfortunately I wasn't able to get a sharp photo of it. pictures weren't allowed in that museum, but I am naughty by nature and managed to get everything on the sly. Just not very good pics because I had to rush it.
That is a beauty...does she glow ?
Greatsnowyowl, you have been a blessing to me. I hope we can solve this question together :))) Thank you!
Hedgewalker, it glows!!!!

this is a link to the annin piece. it's yellow and it's hard to see but it's got the same sort of draping that my piece and this piece has. this little museum was hte only place I've seen annin displayed and there were only about 25-50 pieces displayed in all most of them clear deco tango type things or victorian. but they were around for a good long while.
Greatsnowyowl, I see the resemblance!! WOW!! So what is this? This is so finely made..and every detail is exquisite! I could not believe what I was looking at when I flashed the black light on it!!! Is this rare?
Very pretty... I gotta get a black light...
DrFluffy, I used a jewelers black light for testing gemstones...I forgot to buy a black light today... :0
GSO, is this rare or a good find? Is this Loetz :)))
Of course, it's a good find. I'd say this pattern is fairly rare, It *might* be Annin which was a sister company to Loetz, but still Annin not Loetz. I am not sure what Annin was to Loetz. If it was their slightly lower end outlet or some sort of export thing or what? Very little is known about it. I think these very well *could* be Annin but I really don't know. I just have one example to go on. I didn't realize when we were there that Annin was a subsidiary of Loetz or I would have asked Jitka a lot more questions about it when we were there. They made some glass that was identical to what Harrach was putting out. that's most of the discussion we had about annin. There is no way to tell some of the 1860's Annin from Harrach. none at all. :)
So in a nutshell.. maybe.. but I don't know for sure.
GSO, I think that you gave me something to dream about!!! Thank you!! I think that I found a good "?" and a great lead! I think it is Annin , because the seller swore that this was a Loetz!! And this was out of his personal collection. He bought the vase from a huge collector who swore it was a Loetz. OR a Loetz type. But not Kralik....he was offended. He only collected Loetzs...lol. So who knows...
You have been a blessing to me with this vase and others.....thank you from the bottom of my heart :) XOXOXOXO
