That worked out real well, didn't it?
Blunderbuss, yes its surprising that even a pro-Nazi newspaper would print a headline like that in America.
Wasn't it Hitler who was man of the year on Life mag. & maybe twice? Besides, he was pledging peace when he met Chamberlain. Guess he would have remained peaceful if everything he wanted was given to him.
Had he said that he wanted war or world conquest at that time the Wehrmacht's first plan to over throw him would have worked in 1936. Reminds me of the classic old joke, "How do you know when a politician is lying? When his lips are moving."
As a life long student of history I have concluded that if you as a Politian tell the people what they want to hear they will gladly ignore the facts and follow you like sheep.
Thank you both for comments and militarist, sadly that is most often true today.
I think anybody who believes in war or violence, should be shot!
I agree blunderbuss2
I am slogging my way through the Rise and Fall of the Third Reich. Hitler was a bully who lied and hired thugs to get ahead. I'm painfully making my way through it but geez.
Amber, are you just now hearing about WWII? LOL It was about, ah, read the book. I expect a book report/review from the innocents when you finish. ;-))
GREAT find!
Thanks everyone for the loves. Zguy2112 I found this in a stack of American Socialist League newspapers.
That's Classic! Seriously is an amazing find!
Thank you zguy2112. Out of the 50 or so issues this is my favorite.
As far as I know from internet searches this is the only newspaper from that time with that headline.
