This is a 1897 Vanderman manufacturing company railroad strong box that has been passed down through the years. I've seen a few of these listed as hauling gold bullion, but don't know for sure. The inside has its original stacked compartments but is missing its original lock.
Thank you vetraio for the love:)
Very cool piece!
You've been holding out on us all this time, Sara? Hope T-mon doesn't hold a grudge! Really nice.
What would be the fun in showing all the good stuff right away? It would be like starting with the finale fireworks:)
Ah, you're no fun! You come up with reasoning where I have none.
Sweet trunk! Are they not just marvelous? I have the mini version of yours. This one is in really terrific shape. I stick with the gold bullion story myself. Very rare to have the stacked compartments still there. Thanks for sharing it with us!
Thanks trunkman, The old homestead my grandmother grew up in was willed to one of my cousins who eventually auctioned off the home and all of its contents. My grandmother came with us, and this was an item that really reminded her of her childhood.
Thank you everyone for all the love:)
