This was given to me about 15 years ago and I am thinking about having it restored and giving it to my son. However, I have no idea about this car and wether or not it is worth restoring. Can anyone give me some information ? thank you
I would buy my son a new one and keep this put up.
I second that! I don't know about having it restored, but I wouldn't let anyone play with it!
Well, maybe I am the only one, but I would say fix it up and give it to your son. It's awesome and any kid would be lucky to brag about it when he grows up and maybe even pass it down one day. Makes no sense to me to have such a neat item and not have it get used.
It's a great little car- worth a good chunk of money at that, but if you are planning to hold onto it, I say let your son enjoy it instead of having it sit, unused in a dusty attic.
i would say restore, use and hand down, this would be an awsome toy and memories for a child to share
It really dosen't matter with Pedal Cars I think. If you like the car as is, Enjoy it. If you allow a child to play with it, just moniter the activity and put it up when done. I personally would Restore it to Original Condition. That is Color match paint take detail pictures of all marking ie stripes, name on door, plate #. Sand blast, Primer and a good automotive grade paint to match original color. I seen on Pawn Stars they restored a old car, put on a flashy Hot Rod Paint job and Leather tucked the seats. That for me is way to far, it no longer has its Originality. Look at it as is and think of it when some little kid sat on it for the First Time! Dave

Allright Dave, I guess your right, fix it up and let the little ones have fun, you can't put a value on that smile on a kid face for the first time.
As to the cars identity ,I would look into a possible european link , maybe German or British .
Jack the painted plate has N.J. I think thats a New Jersey plate. What does it say on side, its worn so hard to make out in photo? Dave
Doesn't that show Packard on the drivers door.
Doesn't that show Packard on the drivers door.
Can't tell Officalfuel, been trying to make it out? Dave
$500 or so to have it restored, if that helps you decide or not.
I've never seen a pedal car with inside interior like that ever.
Thank you so much for all of your comments I am glad this has been of interest to everyone. Can anybody give me any facts about this car or point me in the correct direction to learn more about the history of this car? If I were to restore it I would want to bring it back to the original color etc.. And FYI...the license plate says NJ and R.O.S. and the side of the car has Richard stenciled on it.
It had to of been someone of wealth to have such a nice pedal car, I've seen the seat cover before but not inside interior along the doors. Who was that nice person that gave that to you? What a friend.
Ok, that answer that question, it seems someone put the childs name on it and the plate. If you look at the "N" in both plate & name on side, they are the exact same stencil. So that tells me it wasn't original to the car. I will keep looking. Dave
Without seeing in the tin,it's hard to say.But looks very similar to an Austin A40 Pedal car that's been personalised.Production dates & large number of US servicemen in England fits.
Worth a bit in money terms but...... .What price a child smile & joy. What stories we could tell
by the wheels and steering wheel it may be an australian peerless, just a guess.
Someone, sometime invested a lot of love into this car.........................I hate it whaen a back story goes missing......................Who knows who R.O.S. today ? lots of questions, but lots of love !
BTW, whaen =*when*
also, I'd say use as-is, restore when the child gets his/her enjoyment an put up for display or hand down, that way you don't worry about scratches and such. Looks like wheels would do the trick.. ENJOY
i think the car is a leeway built in england in the 1950,s i had one very similar as a child which gave me great pleasure i wish i still had it. renovation is well worthwile but some people would prefer to buy it in original condition.these cars usually sell at auction for several hundred pounds.you will see similar cars on leeway websites but as yet i have been unable to find an exact image matching mine so i assume there were several designs all of which will be very rare nowadays
