Here is my newest Fishnet application piece, Its 11" tall and the rods are very pronounced (can be felt on the surface). The number for this line is unknown but I believe production is around 1925 because Ive seen then signed with the oval "Czecho-slovakia"
How it might have been made:
I think the piece is blown into a slightly bulbous cylinder shape and placed into a star design of rods, when the rods attache the piece is inverted and the rods are folded into place (first to the left on the bias then the right), the piece is re-blown to create the bottom diameter. A band (rod) is placed around the neck and the piece is transferred to a bottom punty...then cut just above the band. From the bottom the rim is easily flared without disturbing the outer design....Anyway thats how i think they did this. This piece was brought to me on a hot tip and listed under Murano vase, pretty cool hugh?
Great find!!!
Just love those pieces that are wrongly identified. I have a wonderful Loetz Medici that was listed as Carnival Glass !
Fabulous...:-)
Have to say it again...I do love it!...:-)
