Hello All,
I've had this for a little while, keep it on top of the fridge where it keeps EXCELLENT! time.
I love it, it's heavy, has exquisitely detailed cast staves, a Japanese crest on each side, sits on a very sturdy decorative stand,......it's a joy.
( another thing, the battery barely fits,....looks like it was made for a slightly different size,.........but it works fine with the AA,
AND, it originally had a finial or something that screwed into a hole on the top,...probably would've told us something about it )
I don't know how long battery operated clocks have been around, but this appears to be a somewhat early one,.....I'd guess a 70's vintage.
Handsome face, but it's what's inside that counts, and I can't quite make out the mark to the right of the steel screw,( photo 4 ).
I've looked around on-line and haven't found another. Thought it might have been made as an advertising gift piece.
Any thoughts?
Thanks for looks and loves,
and happy week-end to all,
Tony.
p.s., the 'Beer' clock category choice is just a guess.
