    ATTWOOD
    (155 items)

These sketches were made by a soldier either confined to his bed after he became paralysed by a bullet in www1. or while he was abroad. They were found in a rusty old tin in the garage along with the things his mother kept to remember him by.
I am posting all these things found in the tin as they are part of his history.
I wasn't sure which category to put them in

      K for Kirton!
      I love that Tabbie!
Have you found his records at the War Memorial in Canberra?
      Is this him?

Thanks vetraio. No he was Frederick Arthur Kirton (known as Art) and he came home injured by a bullet not sure yet as when, but when I get time I will research him and all the diggers in his autograph book......
He dies at age 23 from his afflictions in the military hospital in Randwick.
It says he served in the 3rd battalion but that's all i know so far.

      Kirton, Frederick Arthur?
      I'd contact them in Canberra!
I've been doing research on my Uncle Charlie and they are VERY helpful.
      Good luck with it!

thanks.I just had a weird experience I have to tell you about.I sold a rocking chair on ebay & the guy came to pick it up from sydney rang and said it's Art here I'll be there in 10 mins..I nearly died.I was typing Art on here when he rang and i said omg and told him the story. He then said how bazaar!!! i said now you are truly creeping me out I just typed Bazaar.I was typing the silk egypt piece found in Cairo bazaar....seems Art Kirton came thru to tell me I was doing a good job and Art for the rocking chair was blown away when he got here & i showed him the tin with the "art" stuff in it.
