Hi, I am trying to identify this desktop or tabletop, secretary? Is there an "official" name for this style piece. I just picked this up on craigslist.
    Thanks!

OMG! I love this piece! Wish I could help you identify it, but it's not like anything I've ever seen before.

My great-grandfather had a desk and the top of it was shaped just like your piece. I don't remember any details other than it was worth a small fortune. Sadly, 10 years after my grandmother died my grandfather remarried... for convenience sake (anyway.... thats a whole other Oprah show). His health was getting bad and about 3 years after he remarried he died and his new "wife" sold all of our family furniture, silverware, crystal and two houses without asking if we wanted any of it. I'm not bitter, can you tell? lol
