This lovely piece of Authentic Victorian Mourning "Hair Work" Jewelry is in near pristine condition given its age.The gold content of the bracelet is between 9 and 12 Karat. The locket part of the bracelet has a gorgeous etching of a town scene with horizon in the background. Detailed scrolling swirls done in repousse surround the locket and each side of the clasp. The inside of the locket does not contain any hair but rather a black mesh like material and the rock crystal is fully intact. The clasp on the bracelet and locket are both in good working order. The braided Hairwork band has a few frayed hairs here and there but it is in overall good condition. This is a very nice example of this type of Mourning jewelry and one of my favorite pieces in my modest collection.
Stunning :)
Love it. I almost bought a similar but more modest one about a year ago but the thought of wearing a death persons hear around my wrist turned me off that time.
Beauytiful inheritance from the past and indeed near pristine condition!
I really like these, they are beautiful!..:-)
