I have just added a photo of the mark inside cover.

I was able to get the dust cover open: Wm. Ellery inside and the number 1,409,435. Also on the inside of dust cover at the bottom is 55 note ... the close up with number/mark is not tarnished as it...
I cannot see how to open the dust cover.... any hints/
