My grandfather "Robert H Simms" was an artist between 43-46 for the navy during WW2. He was responsible for the majority of the artwork for the Navy's offical magazine (THE PELICAN) given out to all the sailors biweekly. He also was the one asked to redesign the naval uniforms both dressed blues and undressed blues. The 57 water color paintings I have are ones he did during his time in the pacific and sent back home depicting various scences. They were published in many different newspapers during the war mostly titled "American Sailors pictorial story in the pacific". Each painting has a very detailed description even down to the casualties. I have been tring to find something simular to compare them to on the internet but I can't find anything!
