Though Koons has the license to use it, he does not, or so Ukrainians have charged, have the right to say it's his design. Anyway, I happened to stumble upon one being offered on Etsy and I bought it. It's in perfect condition, was mailed from Russia, and I'm wondering how valuable it is at this point. It's incredibly beautiful and Zhnikrup, who died in 1993, is very well known abroad. I looked at the back, which is stamped what looks like an 8 or S, then 30, and there is also the number 85. There is also the stamp of a Cyrillic "K red, in a red square. This is a very large figurine, measuring 8" x 8" - actually, it's a small statue. I don't collect figurines, but I am a fine artist and know a lovely, accomplished work of art when I see one. I would love to know if anyone has any ideas about its worth or how I can find out.
