My grandmother back in 1921 found this cabinet in her celler when they moved into an old farm house. She said it was ugly and painted it white. She took off the top scrolling. When they moved to a new home in the early 40's,my Mom took it and stored it a friends barn. In 1957, I was 6 at the time, My step dad decided to strip the white paint off. He found a repair tag on the back that said it was repaired in San Francisco in 1865. He tore the tag off and showed it to my Mom. After my Mom calmed down at his stupid mistake she glued it back on. After it was completely stripped, the found it was made of three typs of wood. They decided to put an antiquing kit on it. It is still that way today in Portland Oregon in my brothers house where my my Mom lived. She passed away two years ago at the age of 90. My brother wants me to take the cabinet to my home in Southern California.
