Hi Dean, It resembles a Japanese Satsuma vase. I dug, and dug, and found that the vase is from The Kinmen Hong Bo Ceramic Factory. ?? "HongBo" Chinese factory's name. ???? Chinese phrase...

If you look on the lip/gold part of the vase, there are characters within the medallions.
