My grandparents lived in n a small town in Manitoba called Grand View. My grandfather was a farmer and he and my grandmother both traded with the local indian tribe on the close by reservation. I believe the tribe was a band of Cree Indians.
When I was 5 my grandmother had a pair of handmade moccasins made for me. They were beautiful adorned with beads. But they smelled of smoke and as a result I threw them away!! Big mistake. Later in life I learned that is how the Cree tanned the deer leather.
In addition to the moccasins my grandmother sent my Mother a beautiful hand made woven basket which is 28" long by 14" wide and 10" high. Please keep in mind that the dimensions varies in various sections of the basket due to the hand made aspects of this basket (Read more)
