dancingqueen, born an artist/healer, raised by/as an engineer/problem solver, disabled Marine/USN Missile program engineer, studied biomedical engineering / biochemidancingqueen, born an artist/healer, raised by/as an engineer/problem solver, disabled Marine/USN Missile program engineer, studied biomedical engineering / biochemistry / pre-Med at Vanderbilt Nashville, GSW Americus, Communicative Arts / Music History Valdosta, American History/Poli-Sci GA Girls State, double major in applied mathematics / computer science and double minor in psychology and art. I completed 6 years of formal college education until PELL Grants depleted and I applied again to transfer to GW University in DC. After I became disabled diagnosed with MS/trans-ichemia gliosis, I volunteered for human rights NPO/NGOs, helped raise funds and Awareness for the over 58 free HIV/AIDS clinics in DC metro region, human rights NGO Initiatives for China / Free Tibet / Burma Free Rangers / Thai-Burma Border Campaign/Consortium for orphans via my former roommate political refugee Kathy T Tin, then became a member of ASA American for Safe Access 2011 - DC Charter Member, after I protested for Safe Access to cannabis medicine for HIV/AIDS patients and began my journey as a lobbying activist/artivist. I have reached my dream/goal in life to become a human rights activist and am returning to my roots as an artist/creator, after 10-15 years helping other artists, fashion designers, models and music producers/musicians booking and marketing promotional events/business networking happy hours and after-hours underground parties with electronic dance music pioneers doojee/Germany/NYC, Chicago House and Techno pioneers James Anthony(Opett) and Alexander East live artist/vocalist and instrumental musician. The highlight of @dancingqueen healing-artist, is that I am the only person to have hosted Techno Legend Joey Beltram in 13-14years after his international fame, in Washington, DC. Outside NYC, No one else has done this in DC.
Thirteen years after my mother's passing, I return to her/our love of vintage/antique decor fine china/dishes, since I had lost all my property due to unsafe DC Veterans housing program 2015-2020, and need some new - really very old dishes! I came upon a gold-orange polychrome luster transferware plate that was listed as a Petrus Regout & Co made in Maastricht, Holland, but it is stamped "JAPAN", so I aim to find out the history of this plate and where it comes from, to date and appraise its value. It was sold to me by someone who inherited it, so it was a family heirloom. tweet/follow me @dancingqueen @dancingqueenDC
About.me/dancingqueen After my mom returned to Creator-Creation, I asked my dad if I can use my real birth name that she and my dad both have me at birth, so I have returned to my real birth name combination of all my family's three dialects kimCh'yøng hâiNgân z'u (Cantonese, Mandarin, Viêt-Ngai/Hakka), English version kimqueen(phonetic name), my first names which my mother named me after her mother kim/jin-yin(Mandarin) and also queen(phonetic)/Ch'yong/kheng/Jeanne that my dad named me 3mo after birth, via traditional soothsayer and Chinese numerology, after a famous person feminist-heroine novelist-writer and beautiful place of his childhood, where his parents/family lived out in the country rural region called Nhu-quynh during the beginning of the Communist occupation of hoa-kel overseas-chinese emigrants. My father said I can use all the names I was given at birth, including my mother's maiden name also, but the judge at his courthouse would not allow the name change until my dad could submit a copy of his high school diploma/proof of who he is, however my dad admitted he never graduated after the Viêt-Con closed the Chinese National Schools so he couldn't complete his 13th year in Vocational-technical studies to earn his diploma. My dad attended Chinese National school on a full scholarship-grant provided by his father's employer local owner/herbal pharmacist in historic Hanoi market streets. My father was fo ced to retire early 27-years from MacGregor Golf Company as a iron worker union member of the Bath Maine USN Shipbuilders Union. He worked as an engineer before coming to the USA for the electric power plant, shoveled coal in furnaces, watched pressure gauges, carried salt on Hong Kong harbors as a political refugee and was a tool&dye maker at a children's toy factory in a communist plantation labor camp, a jack of all trades and a better cook than my mom who was a pastry-afficionado, taught me to drive when I was 12 and change my own oil and flat tire by time I was a teenager.
Since age 3, I worked for my mom, an entrepreneur self-taught seamstress/tailor, who gave me my own shop/storefront between age 12-15, to help her run our small family business, buying/selling general mechandise and her self-made clothing including JAMS-style shorts sets, artificial trees and floral arrangements, jewelry and collectible decor during 1980s, until I graduated HS 3rd Valedictorian, with four full-scholarships to attend Vanderbilt University School of Engineering, her choice over my dad's Presidential Scholar of Jacksonville State University, after I respectfully decline the USAF Academy to be a gun-ho-Marine USN NROTC scholar at Vanderbilt. I was also accepted to Chapel Hill, Duke University NC and Emerson State Presbyterian College SC, with offers of full academic scholarships, and full GA Girls State Scholarship from The American Legion, after I became Justice of the Supreme Court in mock elections 1992.
However, my political/art career would not end there. I have been named top 50 most interesting people in Washington, DC, by both Michael Saylor 2009, and have been invited to the most interesting people in DC dinners hosted by Fathom Creative Inc. Director Timur J. Tugberk, and considered a fashion icon by patrons of Betsy Fisher and Annie's Creamcheese. My fashion models I have trained and represented have won 3rd-1st place awards in local and regional Black Men's Magazine and Wendy Williams Model of the Year awards, and some have gone to compete for Tyra Banks America's Next Top Model. I have been voluntering for human rights, marketing promotional events and booking designers, stylists, models, artists and musicians, after I was diagnosed by Lombardi Cancer Center and Georgetown University with multiple sclerosis and trans-ichemia gliosis, and no longer able to continue work as a USN Missile engineering systems analyst for the theatre ballistic missile program. I served in the US Military 1993-1994, with an honorable medical discharge due to chronic pain in bilateral limbs/sciatica pinched nerves, and did my four years as a civilian contractor as a disabled Marine for the USN TBMD missile program 2000-2004, and my adventures continue now to rehab a vintage 1979 Hunter Cherubini 27 sailboat so I can eventually sail to the South Pacific to see Gaugin's painted Fiji paradise islands - to be the first person(?) with MS neuromuscular conditions to sail from Peurto Rico in the Caribbean Sea to the South Pacific Fiji and US Marshall islands, climb Patagonia and Denali North Face, and trek/sail across to Brisbane and Bali, Indonesia. After I finish my rehabilitation of the 20+ injuries from DC Veterans housing program, go cross-country RV camping in US National State Park in every state and skydiving in Lake Tahoe, NV, then I will have completed my bucket list since 1984.
My healing art supports human rights activism. I am collecting and selling vintage and recycled art, and my project is called "re:furniture-it" since 2014. I have posted ideas of my fashion, style, jewelry and furniture/decor interests on my Pinterest @dancingqueenDC - if you want to know where/how I got my nickname / handle @dancingqueen 1993, please read About.me page. I am a certified Energy Medicine EFT.org practicioner, however I am a natural borne healer from long lineage of herbal medicine practicioners on both my mother's father and also her maternal side, as well ast father's paternal ancestry. I love life/Spirit and and in love with LOVE-Creator-Creation/Existence.
