Handmade stool with back and carved sunflowers - Furniture

Did you ever find out what this is? I showed my piece to a couple of antique dealers and no one had any idea. The best guesses were something to do with spinning, or a fireplace screen.
Did you figure out what it is? I just came across the same thing. The painting is very Pennsylvania Dutch on mine. The lower/paddle part is attached via a peg and wooden dowel but otherwise looks very...
