im thinking the design is painted on though..
i really dont know. it has a shine to it so maybe a layer of enamel over it? the lamp has weight to it and sounds hollow when you tap on it except for the upper section which rings solid..
Its not just the base of the lamp but the whole lamp that is metal..
Thank you for the info..it does look ceramic but the interesting thing to me is that is it actually metal of some kind..
