Thanks everyone!! I have never tried to refinish anything in my life before this..I am pretty proud of myself. Now to tackle the inside and get rid of that yucky mothball smell out of it!!

Thank you mr trunkman. It was your response from my first post that got me in gear. I can now use this in my daughters western wedding and put the real loot....the gifts in it!!!!
Thank you, I hand sanded on it for weeks including the wood. I then stained the wood. While i was staining the wood I accidently got it on a metal piece on the side and liked it. So I ended up putting...

I have taken the sanding paper to it and have varnished the wood.I am not done yet but will post after complete. Its looking so much better!!!
