Many thanks for your help here I can now appreciate that this is a fairly rare doll.
Thanks for your help. Well it looks like it could say 277 Dep which looks very much like another doll I've seen now. It's intriguing, I'm having lots of fun just researching.
Unfortunately the clothes are sewn on. However i have since posting this decided that maybe it says Dep which makes more sense. I still cant find a doll with this skin colour.
Sorry I didn't mean to put that comment there I'm trying to start a new question.
I have a doll which is very old. It has a label saying 'An Eastern shepherd' (handwritten) it has a jointed composite body and a bisque or porcelain head. On the back if it's head are 3 letters 'dop'....
