The chess set is from the Philippines, 20th century. I don't know about the table; it might not have been made for these pieces.
It's a Mexican set and I agree you're right about the date. I'm not sure that is a stain on the White Queen, Alan, :p. I think it might be variation in the wood grain if you're talking about the same ...
