The Shakers were a dominant religious sect in the early 19th century. They are celebrated today for the expert craftsmanship of their simple but elegant woodcraft, the chairs, tables, beds, and interior cabinetry that was very unique, even an art form.
I attempt to produce similar ideas using time tested techniques like mortise and tenon joinery for lifetime durability.
My primitive creations are more like artwork to me, as I create functional designs, but with finishing techniques that add elements of interest not found in traditional antique stores.
After moving to the Weiss Lake area, I worked at a wood reclamation and flooring company located close by at Collinsville. It was here that
I produced many large pieces to match the antique flooring we sold to customers. Currently I show at a local antique store and sometimes take orders for distressed style tables etc. from reclaimed wood. (Read more)
