Grew Up on a 200 acre farm that was next to an auction house. Entire childhood encompased father buying and selling anything. We had a perpetual 5 acre yard sale complete with engineless schoolbuses, stagecoach, rv's gazebo's, and circus pony that could only walk in circles, all in the front yard. It was christmas for me everyday of the year. I kept up with auctions and obscure estate sales even while working. After I stopped in my carreer I slowly began to resume my hunting for rare and obscure finds. For the past 5 years I have been picking for other businesses and as they will tell it themselves. I bring a complete sanford and son packed pile of goodies absolutely every day. I have a reputation in the local real estate biz as to be the one to call when in doubt of #1 what to do with it, and #2 does it have any value, #3 can you get it out like right now! I get calls at midnight telling me that I have till 5 am to remove an entire house, and I do it. I get calls from my picker scouts 2 and 3 times a day from 6 counties about possible finds or those seeking info on what they have. I have a reputation for sharing the truth and being up front with those offering me first pick. It affords me the opportunity to see what would not be seen by anyone else. Not being just the first choice but the only choice based on referrals. It pays me pennies as the dealers are the ones who benefit from my picking. But I love it. It is what drives me to get up with a smile everyday, as I can't wait to see the next adventure. Many have asked me if I have watched the show the american picker. I have not, but certainly can imagine what they film, as I live it on a daily basis. It has become so much of a rush for me that I use my professional expertise to help market the dealers that I pick for. By helping to market their business and items for sale it has increased their business allowing them to hand me more cash to pick on their behalf more often.
