In 1966, Mattel launched its first line of Liddle Kiddles dolls—vinyl plastic characters made to resemble ordinary children, only around three inches tall. With their diminutive height and oversized heads, Kiddles caused a sensation in the toy world, and many other brands soon created their own miniature copycat dolls. The first series of Kiddles came with posable limbs, rooted hair, and clothing, as well as a “komic” book, plastic comb or brush, and a themed accessory.
