Recently pulled this old counter out of a local barn that it was in for years. The glass is all there, but not wavey like I would expect by it's age. I couldn't tell till I had it cleaned up ,but at least the original velvet liner is all intact.
This would be a great place to house all your "smalls" , which is what I was going to do, but it's kinda large, so now not too sure. It could use a shelf or two to maximize store capacity, but right now I'm looking for a place for this monster!
Have a great week-end fellow collectors, and Happy Hunting :)!!!
Bernie, you scored a beautiful case there my friend! Now just remember it's all about the displaying of all kinds of different stuff in there. Not assuming you're doing what I did but if you do, think of lamps and something else you can sit other things on top of. Also think about cheaper vases that a piece of glass could maybe set on top of or maybe the bigger old spools, 4 to be exact, to set glass on. Just giving some helpful hints! I love it!
I tell ya, with some nice red Coke stuff in there, it will really POP against that yellow!
Thanks for the great comment and idea on the glass vases,Per, awesome idea!
The big boss says it's too big to put in the house, and right now I'm struggling with what to do with it. I would love to fill it with Coca-Cola red though fer-sure!!
Thanks for the nice comment Phil. There's a package coming your way buddy, sent it over a week age!!
Fantastic find... Would display my jewelry beautifully...
Thank-you DrFluffy for the nice comment, and you sure could put a" ton" of your beautiful jewelry in here fer sure!!
That's how Bernie is Phil, he's a giver!
I guess that's better than a gomer!!
Very nice. I hope to get one tool for my counter!
Nice display case Bern, I always look at these at auctions and antique stores but then talk myself out of it, just cuz they're so big and most times very fragile!!!
I had one just like that but sold it when I moved as no space ..have 2 others one nickle plated and a small wooden that are chocka block full . wish i kept that other one now I see yours.... ya kan neeva have too many display cases!!
I have room!!!!!!
Oh wait, no I don't :)
WOW! That is 8 or 9 feet long and full sheets of glass. Besides being heavy think about the construction to hold all that weight. Building it would empty your pocket book just for the glass. Very nice piece.
Thank-you Tommy , ozmarty, gargoyle, and fhrjr2 for the nice comments!
Looking for a new home for this beauty.! And flrjr2, it's only 6'4'' long, same as me, and the boss say's I'll fit in it perfect with the hole she dug if I try to bring it in the house!!
Thank-you Phil, I hope you are right! Glass shelves are easy to find or have made and the original brackets can be replaced, or if I were keeping it I would just use 4 glass vases of equal height. I hate selling though , so maybe I'll find someone to trade with!!LOL
This would be a great place for Mani's mannequins to hang out, if she only had the room for it.
I still want this :O)
Come and get it DrFluffy, bring a big truck though!!
I wish... :)
Bernie, I just got one of these, 54 inches in length, two set of inner shelves top one 8 inches wide, second shelf 12 inches, monster is right lol
This one is 6'4" Kerry, same as me!!Check comment#17!!
What are they going for in your neck of the woods Kerry?
I am most likely going to keep this now, as I am working on a plan to sneak it into the house when the boss-lady is away!!
Thanks Phil, I should be down-sizing for real, but what fun is that!
