This is the Italian glass black horse I told Sean about not long ago.
We saw it an an antique fair in Madrid last Spring and I felt in love with it as soon as I saw it, no matter I didn't know what it actually was or even it doesn't really fit my usual tastes in terms of glass. And i guess one of the reasons why we did it's because the fair was so bad this was one of the few items that was worth getting... and we did. Then, we got home we read the red label: Archimede Seguso, Murano, Made in italy.
As you can see on pic.3, it's a piece from a Chess series, although it really is heavy and big (it stands 20 cm. tall)
I haven't been able to find much information about this chess figurines, so I'd be thankful if any of you guys can give more info about them.
By the way, a full chess set and a custom-made table for them was sold three years ago at the Von Zezswitch auction house. Here is the link: http://www.zezschwitz.de/detail.php?id=64&highlight=1&knummer=86&chapter=5&objectid=33044&action=language&language=englisch

your very welcome austro!!
This is absolutely beautiful.
Thanks Tom!!! It's one of those rare treasures found in our hometown... sadly the way the antiques market works in Madrid, and in general in all of Spain, is that of charging too much for anything that's old or/and imported... such an absurd mentatlity! I wish we could find great stuff as you do in second hand stores, estate sales, etc, in the US
